how i deal with risk factors in a positive way?
I currently deal with pre-existing risk factors with family conflict, or family history of problem behaviour and academic failure- I feel that I’m not gonna pass grade 11 because of how bad my attendance is. And following my brothers footsteps with dropping out of school.
How I deal with it in a positive way, is I try my hardest not to follow my families footsteps in the mistakes they’ve made with alcohol and drug abuse. Most of my family members did not make it through high school, so I wanna prove to them I can. I try to change my mindset to thinking more positive, and getting as much support as I can. I get rid of of any distractions that get in my way. When it comes to school I tend to get anxiety when I fall far behind or if my grades are going down, but it motivates me to get my work done and to try harder. I have many supportive people who encourage me when I struggle with something.
