I named my plant Nahida after the dendro archon in one of my favourite video games, Genshin Impact. I did this because she reminds me of myself when I was younger, making me feel very connected to her. Having grown up in a household where I felt isolated, lost, and alone, people would speak terrible things about me that were entirely untrue when I would leave the house.
This made me use escapism to build my own world outside of this reality so I could find hope and have dreams and goals like other kids which made me feel included. Because of these circumstances, I ended up maturing without having the experiences of an average person my age. This connects to the character greatly as shown in the videos below.
The plant will be given to me as I feel it is a source of this bond with this character being materialized, which gives me a sense of comfort. No matter how cringy or funny that sounds. This plant also connects to the resilience I and this character have in common which I love.
I didn’t learn much of anything from taking care of this plant. However, this may be due to the fact that I have taken care of gardens and other plants my whole life and this doesn’t feel much different from those experiences. I have been watering it at least once a week and checking in on its growth occasionally. I am very excited to take this plant home with me so that I can start a new chapter with it and test my ability to keep it alive in a different environment. I’m curious to see where this journey will take me!
